Habitat For Humanity Celebrates New Homeowners With ‘Virtual Key Ceremony.

Adam and Kiley Panziera and Marisa Anthony were disappointed, but understanding, when their March 27th key ceremony was cancelled due to Covid-19. The two families had partnered with Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North (Habitat VIN) to become homeowners, and they were looking forward to the celebration that brings the community together to mark the hard work and contribution of families, volunteers and donors.

Youth Media Project call for Applications

Youth Media Project is a program for community action through media involving 9 participants between the ages of 16 – 30. In this 13-week program, youth receive training in video production, gain employability skills, and work with a network of community partners to create videos through work placements – highlighting community resources, and presenting ideas for community change. The project welcomes all youth, including immigrant youth, Aboriginal youth, street- involved youth and others who face barriers to employment.

Celebration of Life for Ruth Masters set for Dec. 10

A celebration of life for the legendary Ruth Masters will take place Sunday, Dec. 10, at the Florence Filberg Centre in Courtenay.

Doors will open at 12:30 p.m., when light snacks and refreshments will be served. The event will include speakers, video, music and performance, starting shortly after 1 p.m.
