Write for Rights 2019 Focuses on Grassy Narrows Youth

Comox Valley Amnesty International takes action with the annual Write for Rights campaign to do the ‘write’ thing and demand justice for youth in Grassy Narrows, Ontario. CV Amnesty invites the community to join us in standing up for the rights of these and other youth defenders of human rights on Monday, December 9, between 4 and 6 pm at the Courtenay Library.

MP Blaney celebrates national recognition for local business

Today in Ottawa, Aiguo Zhang of Campbell River’s White Hat Drycleaners was one of four businesses nationwide to be recognized by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for innovative efforts to improve the integration of newcomers into the labour market.

“I’ve known Aiguo since my previous work at the Immigrant Welcome Centre so it’s extra special to get to celebrate and recognize his work as Member of Parliament here in Ottawa,” said Blaney. “Settlement supports and integration into the workforce are so important for successful immigration policies. Aiguo has shown that even a small business in a small community can have an important impact.”
