Mark Isfeld Secondary students have been busy experimenting, collaborating, and creating in various mediums throughout the school year. This year’s art show at the Pearl Ellis Gallery runs May 15-June 2 and is sure to provide a buffet of artistic talent to satiate all appetites. There will be a reception on Sunday May 27, from 1-3pm for students, parents and the public to enjoy the art while having coffee and cookies.

Ocean Wise Celebrity chef Ned Bell is being flown in from Vancouver by Pacific Coastal Airlines to create a gourmet three-course seafood lunch to raise awareness and funds for t he purchase and restoration of Kus-kus-sum (the Old Field Sawmill site). Locals Restaurant will host the luncheon on May 26th at 11:30am.

The weekend kicks off this Saturday with Cumberland’s annual street market extravaganza – Village Market Day, the ever popular Soap Box Derby, a meet and greet reunion for ‘old’ and ‘new’ Cumberland, and an epic garage sale at the Cumberland Community Church. Head to Cumberland Village Park and enjoy a meal at the Cumberland Community School PAC concession, take in the Washoe tournament, and share a table at the beer garden. Festivities run from 10am to 6pm.
