In front of an excited crowd, Marcelle Moose of MNP drew the winning ticket for the Comox Valley Hospice Society (CVHS) 4th Annual Ultimate fifty/50 raffle on Friday evening at the Kingfisher Resort and Spa. The winning ticket holder, James Maxwell, jubilantly expressed his disbelief and excitement on the 8 pm phone call saying, “We never win anything—we just donate,” noting they had purchased their tickets at Canadian Tire.

The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) recently received a Gold Marcom Award for its new website launched last spring. The MarCom Awards are an international creative competition that recognizes outstanding achievements by marketing and communication professionals.
Starting October 24th until November 1st, fireworks will be on sale in the CVRD electoral areas A, B and C. The sale of fireworks must be from a commercially zoned retailer operating under the current fire regulations within the region. Fireworks are only allowed to be set off in the electoral areas on property you own or with the owner’s permission. Permits are required prior to exploding or setting off fireworks.

The Cumberland Museum and Archives celebrates Women’s History Month with two unique events. Life in a coal town like Cumberland was not easy for the women who settled here.
