The Comox Valley Art Gallery is presenting Creative Research: A Day of Making on Friday, May 31st. The full day of artist and community interaction is a partnership between CVAG, Spaces VR (Courtenay’s first virtual reality gaming lounge) and the ENTER program at School District 71.
In recognition of their ten year anniversary, Comox Valley Photographic Society (CVPS) members have raised the bar on their upcoming show running from June 4th to 22nd at the Pearl Ellis Gallery in Comox.
The seventh incarnation of Comox Valley Arts’ Central Island Studio Tour is coming up May 24, 25 & 26 – with over 90 artist’s spaces representing more than 160 artists – between Parksville and Campbell River.
All participating studios are open from 10am-4pm daily, it’s 100% free, and no appointments are necessary. Grab some friends and go explore! Carpooling is encouraged.

Dream, the new documentary from the award-winning film production studio Unveil Studios, will be screening in Courtenay next month. Dream is about the power of dreams and how a purposeful dream can change the world. It also explores what happens when people lose their way so that their dream becomes a nightmare. The documentary follows nine inspiring stories of children, women and men from around the world.
On May 31st, this event offers all ages an interactive engagement with the virtual reality research + creation projects of artists who are participating in the Spaces VR sponsored residency that is part of the thematic program Constant Change at the Comox Valley Art Gallery.
The Comox Valley Writers Society is pleased to announce the launch of Crumblies do Paris. The author, Marlet Ashley, and the illustrator, Kate Brown, will be reading and signing books on Sunday, May 26th at 4058 Haas Road, Courtenay, in a launch with local author, Carolyn Walton, beginning at 2 pm.
The first annual ‘Island Originals Fine Art Show’ will be held August 10th and 11th at the Marina Park in Comox. This new show has been
organized by a volunteer group of artists in response to the closure of the well attended ‘Originals Only show”, which has been held in the same Marina Park location for the last 16 years.
