Geoff Berner performing at Miners Memorial

For the past 15 years, Jewish-Canadian accordion player, singer-songwriter, and novelist Geoff Berner has travelled the world, packing venues in places like Berlin, London, Oslo, Zurich, Seattle, Toronto, Edmonton and his home city of Vancouver. Berner is returning to Cumberland on Saturday, June 23, for an intimate evening performance at the Cumberland Cultural Centre as a part of Goodwin 2018 and Miners Memorial Weekend.

Forest Stories Summer Arts Camp

This  NEW 2-week Forest Stories Summer Camp ​is presented by the Cumberland Community Forest Society, Elevate and Convoy​. Designed for 7 –12 year olds​​ the program is built around theatre, music,and forest myths and legends. The connecting themes are creativity, nature and community.

Victoria Day Long Weekend in Cumberland 1888 to 2018 – Celebrating 130 Years

The May Long Weekend is around the corner. There is no better place to celebrate the ‘unofficial’ beginning of the summer season than at Victoria Day Celebrations in Cumberland, May 19th to 21st. The weekend kicks off this Saturday with Cumberland’s annual street market extravaganza – Village Market Day, the ever popular Soap Box Derby, a meet and greet reunion for ‘old’ and ‘new’ Cumberland, and an epic garage sale at the Cumberland Community Church. Head to Cumberland Village Park and enjoy a meal at the Cumberland Community School PAC concession, take in the Washoe tournament, and share a table at the beer garden. Festivities run from 10am to 6pm.

New Program for Youth Thanks to Comox Valley Foundation

Cumberland Recreation would like to extend a big thank you to the Comox Valley Community Foundation for their support in creating free youth programs in Cumberland. Their donation was used to purchase an inflatable obstacle course that will be available to rent for birthday parties. All proceeds go to supporting a free “Youth Drop-in Gym” program and other low cost youth recreation.

Cumberland Heritage Day in Cumberland

Celebrate our regions history and heritage at the 16th annual Cumberland Heritage Faire! Explore a wide range of displays featuring local histories, genealogy, traditional craft making, antique tools, demonstrations, and so much more. Enjoy musical entertainment for the entire family from local favourites including the Old Time Fiddlers, Time for Uke, and the Barbershop Quartet. Stop by the concession for a homemade lunch. The Faire takes place 10am – 4pm in the Cumberland OAP Hall and Cultural Centre at 1st Street and Dunsmuir Avenue. Admission is by donation.
