Comox Valley Sports Centre Suspends Further Activities

With the most recent Provincial Health orders, the Comox Valley Sports Centre will be suspending CVRD indoor group/adult physical activities effective  until further notice.

CVRD programs and rental sport groups to be suspended include:

  • CVRD led Aquacises – high/low intensity
  • CVRD led Shinny hockey
  • CVRD led Adult hockey programs
  • CVRD led Adult/Senior drop in preregistered hockey times
  • Adult recreational hockey groups/rentals
  • Adult Ringette groups/rentals

These activities can be replaced with individual exercise such as length swims and public skating which allow everyone to maintain a safe physical distance of 2 meters. Also you can attend our wellness centre area where we provide a low attendance ratio to ensure safe physical distancing and cleaning protocol in place while using our equipment. Online reservation is required.

Children and youth structured physical activities and sports will be able to resume next week on December 7th (including skate and swim lessons) with physical distancing measures in place.

Starting September 7 helmets will be required for all public skates

The Comox Valley Sports Centre beginning September 7, 2021 will require all patrons participating in a public skate to use a helmet. Helmets provide a protective layer for our thin skulls and are designed to create a surface area to absorb the force received during a fall.

UBCM awards $1 million grant towards Strengthening Community Services project in the Comox Valley

The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) in partnership with the City of Courtenay and the Coalition to End Homelessness has been awarded over one million dollars in grant funding towards projects dedicated to providing urgent and temporary support to unsheltered homeless populations and addressing related community impacts in the region. The funding is being administered by Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) on behalf of the Province and the Government of Canada’s Safe Restart program.
