Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North (Habitat VIN) will soon be embarking on two new affordable
housing projects, and they are asking the community for support.

Habitat VIN’s two current multi-phase, multi-unit projects on 1330 Lake Trail Road in Courtenay and 477
Hilchey Road in Campbell River are expected to come to completion in the near future, serving a total of
21 families.

In 2021, they will start construction of two even larger projects in both communities.

Their upcoming 1375 Piercy Avenue project in Courtenay will provide 12 affordable homes for families in
need, and another 12-unit project on 461 Hilchey Road in Campbell River will begin soon after. They plan
to complete both projects, totalling 24 homes, by the end of 2024.

Afton, a future Habitat homeowner in Campbell River, said that moving into a Habitat home “will change
everything” for her family.

“I’ll have the means to go back to school. My son will have a yard to play in and kids to play with. I’ll be
able to afford to put him in sports. We will live in a home where it doesn’t rain inside,” she explained.

After an unusual and challenging year, Habitat was not sure if Christoph Real Estate Group, Fresh Coast
Investments, and Robbins & Company would recommit to their yearly holiday donation campaign, in
which the three businesses match donations made by individuals.

However, seeing the unprecedented need for safe and affordable housing, the three businesses decided
not only to return as campaign sponsors, but to increase their matching commitment. They will partner to
match donations up to a total of $10,500, but receiving the full sponsorship amount is contingent on
individual donors.

“This is a community-led campaign, and every donor, no matter their giving amount, is now a part of
making these homes a reality,” said Pat McKenna, Habitat VIN’s Executive Director. “With your help, we
can raise $21,000 towards safe and affordable housing this holiday season.”

Donors can choose whether their gift supports Habitat’s Comox Valley projects, Campbell River projects,
or they can provide an unrestricted donation that impacts all areas of Habitat’s operations.

To have your donation to Habitat VIN doubled, visit habitatdonate.com to make a gift before December
31st.
