The Comox Valley Community Health Network has been hosting a series of online conversations to learn from people’s experiences. COVID has added a level of social isolation to our lives. These conversations are an opportunity to connect with others who might face a similar situation to you. Based on what we hear, we will be making recommendations to organizations that have a role in disaster response and recovery about how to support physical and mental health during future pandemic phases.

Participants’ feedback in past conversations is that the discussions have been welcoming, enjoyable, and cathartic.

These conversations are guided by experienced facilitators who will make your participation welcoming and supportive.

We have four conversations coming up in the next few months:

Community Conversation for Caregivers of Children and Adults with Disabilities and Seniors:

Despite the commitment caregivers have, and the love they feel for the people they support, providing care for children, adults with disabilities, seniors, or those in palliative care, can be time consuming and exhausting. This conversation is an opportunity to talk with others in similar situations to share and connect with each other.

Community Conversation for Caregivers of Young Children:

Providing care for young children adds a complex and challenging dimension to the COVID crisis. From managing care/work schedules, to ensuring your child is safe, making difficult decisions about going back to school and knowing how much to talk to kids has been an ongoing challenge for months. This conversation is an opportunity for caregivers of young children to talk and share stories and experiences about the ups and downs of parenting during COVID.

Thursday, October 15th from 5:30 – 7:30 PM – Click to Register

Community Conversation for Hospice and Palliative Care Professional Caregivers:

Professional caregivers display an extraordinary level of commitment to those in palliative or hospice care. In typical times, the work of caregiving can be exceptional. COVID has added an additional level of stress and professional isolation to our lives; this conversation is an opportunity to talk with others in similar situations, to share, and to connect with each other.

Wednesday, October 28th from 2:00 – 4:00 PM – Click to Register
