– Superintendent Tom Demeo is pleased to announce that Brenda Hooker
has been appointed as the new Secretary-Treasurer for Comox Valley Schools.

Brenda will assume duties in her role with the school district effective 1 November.

Brenda is currently the Secretary Treasurer in the Peace River North (SD60). Brenda has a
Charter General Accounting Designation (CGA), has worked as an auditor and served as an
elected School Trustee for the Prince George School District Board of Education (SD 57).

With 20 years of experience as an accountant with more than nine years’ experience working
with Boards of Education in British Columbia, Brenda brings a wealth of knowledge to her new
role.

“I am thrilled to be joining the SD 71 team bringing my experience to continue a long history in
the District of educational excellence and fiscal responsibility,” noted Brenda in accepting the
appointment.

“In selecting Brenda Hooker as our Secretary-Treasurer, we recognized the extensive
knowledge, expertise and abilities she brings to the Valley. Her passion, to support student
learning coupled with her vast accounting skills will be a tremendous asset to School District
71,” expressed Tom Demeo, Superintendent of Schools. “On behalf of the Board, I also wish to
express appreciation to the staff, administrators and partners who were involved with the
recruitment and candidate selection process.
