I hope this message finds you safe and healthy during this challenging time of COVID- 19. The Coalition year has been a very busy one. We appreciate the Steering Committee for all their work in making our communities safer and welcoming to newcomers however, there are lots to do for our year 2020/2021.

We are currently forming working groups for our Immigrant Needs Assessment Research project. We will be collating data from immigrants, other residents and service organizations in forms of questionnaires, focus groups discussions and interviews. Collaboration is key to establishing Welcoming Communities so if you are interested in any part of this either in Campbell River or Courtenay, please reach out to our coordinator at Toyin.Kareem@immigrantwelcome.ca

Thriving Together Series was launched to share stories about how newcomers and immigrants are thriving while respecting social distancing rules. They are also sharing ideas around our our community can be more welcoming. We will be sharing these stories bi-weekly. If you or anyone else you know would like to share their story during this pandemic, you can reach out to our Welcoming Coalition Coordinator.
