British Columbia is still the most ethnically diverse province in Canada. Immigration is an important driver in a fast-changing world and immigrants and newcomers have provided enormous contribution to our communities. They continue to grow Canada’s future through their contributions to various industries therefore, it is imperative for our communities to be welcoming and safe.

The Immigrant welcome centre continues to be a respected leader for fostering safe, respectful, diverse, inclusive and welcoming communities. Over the past 27 years, the Immigrant Welcome Centre (IWC) has become a respected organisation in supporting newcomer integration in our community. In 2018/2019, the IWC served over 1000 clients in the North Vancouver Island region from 87 countries. A welcoming and inclusive community values all its members and helps them to meet their basic needs so that they can live with dignity, engage actively, and contribute to their community. In developing and maintaining strong local partnerships, the Immigrant Welcome Centre’s Welcoming Communities Coalition will explore creative solutions for addressing needs and priorities for supporting newcomers to our communities.

Pre-registration is required.
