Annual Lions Wheelbarrow Walk raises funds for CVCDA Children’s Telethon

The Lions will start their walk at 8:30am setting off on a 32KM trek, pushing a wheelbarrow from Fanny Bay, northbound on Highway 19A and ending up on the Telethon stage around 5pm. There, the Baynes Sound Lions Club will present the profits they raised to the CVCDA contributing to the Telethon’s totals for the day. The Club’s donation will include the Wheelbarrow Walk total and funds from additional initiatives leading up to Telethon including a meat draw, chain saw eagle carving raffle and various community donations.

Hospice Ultimate Fifty/50 Raffle Winner Takes Home $25,000 Cash Prize!

In front of an excited crowd, Marcel Moose of MNP drew the winning ticket for the Comox Valley Hospice Society (CVHS) 5th Annual Ultimate fifty/50 raffle on Friday evening at the Kingfisher Resort and Spa. The winning ticket holder, Scott McLennan, a retired RCMP officer, jubilantly expressed his disbelief and excitement saying, “You made my year!”

In the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) permits are required prior to setting off fireworks for properties within Electoral Areas A, B or C and are only allowed to be set off on property you own or with the owner’s permission. The sale of fireworks in the CVRD will occur from October 24 until November 1, and must be from a commercially zoned retailer operating under the current fire regulations within the region. If you live within the Town of Comox, City of Courtenay or Village of Cumberland please contact your municipality for fireworks regulations and permit requirements.
