Do you enjoy fascinating cycling stories? Interested in education in the developing world?

Join Brenda Trenholme and the Kenya Education Endowment Fund (KEEF) at Comox United Church on Monday, June 3 to hear about her experience of cycling the Silk Road; a 13,000 km journey across 10 countries in Asia – from Beijing to Istanbul.

Brenda’s journey continues to raise funds for KEEF, a volunteer-run organization that raises money locally to pay school fees for students in rural Western Kenya.Brenda’s presentation, Cycling the Silk Road, will highlight the logistics, geography and history of this challenging group ride through spectacular and remote landscapes and cultures – including the Gobi Desert, western Siberia and the Pamir Mountains at 15,000 feet. Of the rough stretches in Mongolia, Brenda says, “hanging onto the handlebars was like riding a jackhammer.” The group of 14 cyclists travelled for 150 days in 2018, riding on average 154 kms a day.

Brenda’s presentation on June 3rd will start at 7 pm. Admission is by donation, with the proceeds going to KEEF (tax deductible receipts available). Light refreshments will be served at intermission.
