The Comox Valley Water System is now under Stage 1 water restrictions, which come into effect every year on May 1st.

Under Stage 1, lawn and garden sprinkling is permitted between the hours of 5 am – 8 am and 7 pm -10 pm, on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday for even numbered addresses and Wednesday, Friday and Sunday for odd numbered addresses.

“Stage 1 allows for lawn sprinkling within designated times and restrictions will become more stringent as water availability decreases,” explained Mike Herschmiller, Manager of Water Services for the CVRD. “The schedule is designed so that the shift to Stage 2 when needed is relatively straightforward for our residents.”

Residents are encouraged to visit www.comoxvalleyrd.com/restrictions to learn more and download a printable 2019 watering calendar.

In 2018, the CVRD implemented changes to its Water Conservation bylaw to reduce consumption of water and make it easier for residents to comply with annual water restrictions. These changes are not only important from a conservation perspective, but it also helps to prepare users of the Comox Valley Water System for the shift to Stage 2 when lake levels begin to decrease.

Restrictions apply to the Comox Valley Water Service. To find out more about which communities are included in the service visit: www.comoxvalleyrd.ca/watersystems.

The Comox Valley Regional District is a federation of three electoral areas and three municipalities providing sustainable services for residents and visitors to the area.
