During spring break 2019, seven-year old junior entrepreneur Robbie, presented Kath Johnson of the Comox Valley SPCA with $100 donation.

This donation represented $1 from every bag of “Robbie’s Canine Cookies” sold since he started the company in December 2017.

Robbie, who likes to cook with his grandmother, started his business when he was almost six years old. He was inspired to turn his culinary interest into an SPCA fundraiser to help other animals find forever homes through the SPCA, just like his grandparents’ rescue dog.

Although Robbie gets help from his grandmother, he reads the recipe, measures the ingredients, rolls the dough, and cuts the cookies. Robbie calls himself the “Cookerman,” as appears on his custom apron.

Like any good chef, he personally tested them (although he said, “tasted”) them. He even designed his own label and bags the treats. The label says, “Kid Tasted & Dog Approved.”

Just Like Mom’s self-serve bakery in Union Bay is an outlet for Robbie’s Canine Cookies, and others are placed through special orders at www.facebook.com/pg/robbiescaninecookies.  A bag of approximately 15 cookies, 100 grams, costs $3.
