The ability to not feel guilty when taking time for ones self is becoming a rare practice. What was a given balance when we flowed with the cycles of Nature is now its complete opposite in the age of technology. Even worse is our compulsion as a society to stay “busy”.

For what purpose, may I ask?

The answer goes beyond the need to earn an income or raise a family. Since, even after our obligations are met, we still panic and find things to do when a moment of calm and silence is experienced. Have we become so addicted to noise and the pursuit of external entertainment that we can no longer sit still?

The answer to both questions can be found at the Source of who we truly are.

When we journey within by the simple act of observing our breathing, no more no less, nothing is required, nothing is necessary and nothing is demanded of us. A good friend of mine has referred to this process as just being the vehicle by which the intake of oxygen is transformed. A process which is replicated by every other living thing on this planet. No thoughts or particular capabilities are required. It is this simple formula which now frightens us because, unless you are at a spa, our man made world is like the rabbit in Alice in Wonderland exclaiming, “I’m late! I’m late for a very important date. No time to say hello, goodbye, I’m late, I’m late, I’m late”!

So, there it is. The fear of simply being you with your unique magnificence is all that stands in the way of experiencing inner peace and quiet, which is always your natural state.

When all the white rabbits in your life are running around you….STOP.

Take a deep breath….exhale and smile. 🙂

Repeat as needed.
