As one year ends and a new one begins, the Comox Valley Art Gallery has lots to share and celebrate.
As 2018 comes to a close, we recognized the accomplishments of CVAG’s executive director, Sharon Karsten, for the successful defence of her Ph.D. dissertation. Throughout her studies, accomplished over the past ten years through Simon Fraser University’s School of Communication, Karsten has focused on cultural policy in small city contexts – with particular emphasis on the ways in which local governments can enable cultural sustainability. Karsten defended to a panel of examiners on December 12th, and is excited to continue to apply her knowledge and passion for arts-based and culture-led development within CVAG and the wider Comox Valley community.
Another group of Youth Media Project students will begin their project in January 2019 and The 44th Winter Art Market still features a wide variety of well-made things. One more community make art event provides a time out at this busy time of year to make a take-away art project.
In 2019 the TIFF films series and new programming and events are planned.
We invite you to visit the gallery or CVAG website to take in current offerings and to learn more about what is ahead.
