The Comox Valley Art Gallery is accepting applications for the Youth Media Project, a unique opportunity that pays young people while they receive 13 weeks of training in video production, sound design, and other media skills. During the program, participants learn skills, produce their own videos, and undertake job placements.
To be eligible for the program, participants must have a demonstrated interest in art and video, not be working or attending school full time, and not be on Employment Insurance. Participants will be paid minimum wage for 30-34 hours a week if accepted.
The deadline for applications is Dec 5, 2018 for participation in the Jan 14th to April 12, 2019 program. To apply, send an e-mail to Krista.firstname.lastname@example.org drop off a letter of application to CVAG, at 580 Duncan Ave. The letter should describe the applicant’s reasons for applying, work and school experience, and how this program would nourish their future.
There will be an information session on Weds November 28th @ 5:30 p.m. at CVAG. Anyone interested is welcome to attend. Please enter through the side door of the Gallery.
Folks are also invited to join us for our upcoming Dec 15th free film screening of youth films at the Rotary Hall at the Florence Filberg Centre. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Screening starts at 7:00.
“It has been an inspiring journey to work with youth as they use their videos to initiate conversations about what they would like to see changed in our community. The participants are learning so many new media skills while connecting with each other and our community.” said Team Leader Krista Tupper.
