I am emailing today to share a very exciting local campaign update!

Residents of Sechelt will be going as a delegation to council on June 20th (7pm) to ask council to send a Climate Accountability Letter to the 20 Carbon Majors, the 20 companies responsible for a third of global and historic fossil fuel production.

So far in B.C. ten other communities have sent, or committed to send, letters the Carbon Majors, including Powell River.  By sending the letters, smaller communities are joining in a global wave of climate action and defending their residents against the increasing costs of infrastructure improvement due to climate change.

If you’re a resident in the District of Sechelt come on out to join me in the cheap seats to support local leadership, show council that you don’t want taxpayers to be on the hook for fossil fuel producers’ profits, and that we are coming together to fight climate change at its root source.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out! If you’re interested in getting involved on the 20th in Sechelt, in another community on the Coast, or with further developments please also get in touch!

Yours in excited determination.
