Special to TideChange
There are 157 issues to be addressed regarding the Kinder Morgan pipeline, and the company is “nowhere close to resolving these goals”, according to North Island-Powell River MP, Rachel Blaney.
In a media teleconference, she blasted the company for setting an “artificial deadline” and issuing a lot of threats without proper process. She also noted that there has been no testing of the effect of bitumen spills in water – either fresh or salt – and that rigorous testing is needed.
Asked about whether recent reports about the dubious business value of the pipeline, given world price and demand, were of concern in Ottawa, she said this aspect of the pipeline debate had not been discussed in the House.
