You are invited to the Courtenay Museum’s annual Spring Fling event on Saturday, March 24th from 11am to 2pm. Admission is by donation with half the proceeds going to the Shamrock Gumboots 4-H Club.
There is a lot of family fun planned within the three hours. You can meet lambs, kids (baby goats), ducks, geese, rabbits and chickens – all courtesy of the Shamrock Gumboots 4-H Club. The Hot Chocolates Rabbit will visit between 12:30 and 1pm and he will be giving out delicious Easter chocolate. Magical Faces will be on hand to paint faces for a small fee.
Don’t forget to bring along your craft skills to make an Easter Bonnet and enter to win the Best Easter Bonnet contest at 12:30 or 1:30pm. Join in the Dinosaur Egg Hunt, “Guess How Many Treats” contest, “Pin the Tail on the Rabbit,” and the “Bunny Carrot Toss” contest. There will also be Easter door prizes.
This year the museum welcomes volunteers from Project Watershed who will be bringing their mascot Newton Newt as well as providing an information table display.
You can have your photo taken with Newton Newt and the Elasmosaur mascots before they have a fun race at 1:00pm. This is the first annual mascot race between Newton Newt who is ten years old (one hundred years old in Newt years) and Elasmo Elasmosaur who is eighty million and twenty nine. Who do you think will win the race? Make sure you are outside the museum at 1pm when the race around the block will start!
The Courtney Museum is located at 207 Fourth Street in downtown Courtenay.
