Tickets are on sale now for a special March 28 screening of “The Leisure Seeker”, the final movie of this season’s Comox Valley Art Gallery film series.

“The Leisure Seeker” features acting legend Donald Sutherland and Academy Award winner Helen Mirren in a wise and witty road movie set in today’s divided United States.

Ella (Mirren) is dying of cancer. John (Sutherland) is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. Neither is interested in quietly fading away surrounded by nurses and machines.

With the end of the road in sight, Ella opts to tune up their vintage RV and hit the highway, travelling from Boston to Florida with John behind the wheel. As they pass through cities and towns they see how much the world they know has changed for ill or for good. And they try to leave it on a graceful note.

The original March 25 screening of “The Leisure Seeker” is sold out but CVAG was able to arrange a second screening on Wednesday, March 28.  Tickets are on sale now, but they are selling quickly.

The screening takes place 5 p.m. at the Rialto Theatre. Some tickets may be available at the door, but advance purchase is recommended.

Tickets are $13 for CVAG members and $14 for non-members. They can be purchased at the CVAG shop, 580 Duncan Ave. in downtown Courtenay, or over the phone by credit card at 250.338.6211 ext. 1.

CVAG presents a selection of films from the Toronto International Film Festival twice a  year. The next series will start in September.
