Aislinn Deenihan is a recently introduced Homo Sapien to the valley, blown over from Ireland and then Calgary. Aislinn has a Ph.D in bumblebees! She has provided over 100 environmental education and environmental liability presentations in Ireland and Alberta. Her favorite presentation was to her senior academic department on the similarities between a Lance Armstrong and a bumblebee.
Lisa Levesque is a director with the Cumberland Community Forest Society and a Master Bee Keeper! She has a degree in Environmental Science (U of Guelph) and a Masters in Interdisciplinary Science from UVic. Her thesis focused on landscape ecology/GIS, historical ecology and ecological restoration in Waterton Lakes National Park. Se currently works for the BC Ministry of Agriculture focused where there is strong focus on climate change and small-scale renewable energy.
Amanda Howe has a MSc in Herbal Medicine from the University of Wales. She worked in England in a multidisciplinary clinic before moving to Cumberland twenty five years ago where she is active is her practice as a herbalist and a herbal educator and works tirelessly to ensure continued access to herbal medicines for Herbalists and the general public. Amanda has taught at Pacific Rim College in Victoria in their Herbal Practitioner training program, and was involved in funded research projects with the Centre for Livelihoods and Ecology at Royal Roads University. Amanda loves to teach and is happiest when she is in the garden teaching people how to grow, harvest, use and listen to the magic of the plants that are thriving there.
