Comox United Church will present the film “In Pursuit of Peace” on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 7 pm.

Just before Remembrance Day, this 2015 NFB film will make the case for unarmed civilian peacemaking and mediation as a response to violent international conflict. The film follows four Canadian peacemakers as they take us inside their dramatic work in some of the world’s hottest conflict zones: land disputes in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the civil war in South Sudan, and IDP camps with displaced minorities in Kurdistan in Northern Iraq.

The film explores the impact that violence has had on the lives of those directly affected by armed conflict, and offers a new paradigm for conflict resolution. The work is far from easy, and discussions can be upset by external events, but it is possible to mediate disputes between local groups that have previously been in violent conflict.

The Film will be at 7 pm Friday, November 10, 2017 at Comox United Church, 250 Beach Drive in Comox. Admission is by donation.
