The 10th and final Boomer’s Ride from Comox to Victoria wrapped up on Sunday, June 11, 2017. Boomer’s Ride was created from Boomer’s Legacy to help raise funds and awareness about Canadian soldiers helping others at home and abroad.
Boomer’s Legacy is named after Andrew ‘Boomer’ Eykelenboom, a military medic from Comox who was killed in Afghanistan in 2006.
With the ride ending this year, planning is already started for a 2018 event. Maureen Eykelenboom, Andrew’s mother stated, “next year there will be an event that will be centered around the base [19 Wing Comox] that will be inclusive of all-ages and all physical abilities.” Boomer’s Legacy will now be administered through the Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS).
eBob Trailers played a small role in the Boomer’s Ride this year. Pieter Vorster, our webmaster (Pod Creative), and senior editor with Tide Change, was sporting an eBob aluminum Ultra Ranger trailer. Pieter used the trailer for a portion of the ride and you can view the ride and see the trailer in action below.
Pieter has been using his eBob trailer for a few weeks now and has said “The new eBob is proving to be even better than anticipated. It keeps its speed with a full load, making the hill up towards our house a pleasure instead of a strain. There’s a lot of power in those motors, and the ultra-durable battery means you don’t have to charge after each trip. Get one today!”
