The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) congratulates the new B.C. Premier John Horgan and his gender-balanced B.C. NDP cabinet who were sworn-in yesterday in Victoria.

The NTC is confident that Premier John Horgan and his cabinet will understand the importance of strengthening relationships between the provincial government and our Indigenous peoples. We look forward to seeing Premier John Horgan’s priorities for reconciliation implemented with his commitments to acting on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, adopting the principles of UNDRIP, supporting Indigenous communities, cultures and history, keeping Aboriginal children connected to their communities and creating jobs and opportunities for a sustainable future.

The NTC looks forward to working together with the new B.C. NDP government to make true reconciliation a priority for all Indigenous communities.

Special congratulations go to our local MLAs, the Honourable Minister Scott Fraser, Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation, MLA for Alberni-Qualicum and the Honourable Claire Trevena, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, MLA for North Island. In addition, we send congratulations to B.C.’s first Indigenous Woman in Cabinet, the Honourable Minister Melanie Mark, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Training, MLA for Vancouver-Mount Pleasant.
