The Courtenay-Comox BCNDP Constituency Association welcomed new MLA, Ronna-Rae Leonard, to its Annual General Meeting on Sunday, July 9. Long time member and outgoing president, Rick Dobson, stated, “This is the first time I have seen a sitting MLA on our executive, and we are excited about what the future holds”.

“I am happy to be back in the community with my supporters who worked tremendously hard during this election”, said Leonard. “We went from “Cloud 9” to “Lucky 13” to a landslide of 189 votes! Never doubt for a moment whether your vote counts!”

Leonard shared with the membership her experiences thus far in Victoria and told her audience that there was considerable excitement about the NDP’s “good faith and no surprises” agreement with the Green Party. The BC NDP’s commitment now is to build a better BC that works for everyone – in terms of affordability, services people can count on, and good jobs within a sustainable environment, she said.

The membership also elected a new executive, including five new members from the community.
