Vote for the Comox Valley as the next Kraft Hockeyville. The Comox Valley is in the running for the grand prize to host an NHL pre-season game at the Comox Valley Regional District’s (CVRD) sports centre, as well as receive $100,000 in arena upgrades.
Voting opens March 12, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. EST and closes March 13, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
The Comox Valley is competing with nine other communities and the top two communities that receive the most votes during this first voting period will move on to the final round for a chance to win the grand prize. Marsha Webb, co-owner of the Comox Valley Glacier Kings, submitted the nomination. Currently the Valley is the only BC community on the shortlist.
“We’ve hosted many events here at the CVRD’s sports centre and to host a pre-season NHL Game as Kraft Hockeyville would be a welcomed opportunity for our community,” said Jennifer Zbinden, Comox Valley Regional District’s senior manager of recreation facilities. “The facility upgrades would benefit our many patrons and user groups for many years to come. We encourage everyone to take the time to vote and help our community get to the next round.”
Votes can be cast online at http://www.khv2017.ca/en/ and the community is encouraged to share the web link and social media posts to help spread the word with the hashtag #KraftHockeyville.
The Comox Valley Regional District is a federation of three electoral areas and three municipalities providing sustainable services for residents and visitors to the area. The members of the regional district work collaboratively on services for the benefit of the diverse urban and rural areas of the Comox Valley.
