The Comox Valley Art Gallery will celebrate its winter program, including the 42 Annual Christmas Craft Fair, with a reception and make-art stations on Nov. 18, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

This celebration will include food and beverages on the CVAG plaza with artist performances, a pop up choir and fire spinning as part of the Moonlight and Magic festivities throughout downtown Courtenay.

The Christmas Craft Fair will feature the work of more than 60 artists. On Nov. 18 and 19, the gallery will offer 15 per cent discounts for CVAG members and 10 per cent discounts for visitors.

CVAG’s winter program also features the interactive exhibitions Hands On, facilitated by Lukas J. Roy and Jessie Zelko in the CVAG window gallery, and MAP: Dimensions of the Season, facilitated by Denise Lawson in the CVAG Community Space.

The exhibitions and craft fair will run until Dec. 26. There will be special hours and events throughout the winter program.

On Nov. 26 guest artist Perrin Sparks will present pastel portraits from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will also be a collage party that day facilitated by Sonia Stastny, featuring a make art station and workshop from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

On Dec. 3 guest artist Pamela Tessmann will perform acoustic guitar and voice from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

On Dec. 10 guest artist Roger Helfrick will perform harp and voice from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will also be various art-making, including solstice lanterns, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. that day.

Throughout the winter program CVAG will be open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition, the gallery will be open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18. The gallery will stay open until 7 p.m. from Dec. 21 to Dec. 23.

On Dec. 24 the gallery will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The final day for the winter program and the Christmas Craft Fair will be Dec. 26, when the gallery will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
